Our gym membership program is based on knowing the importance of strength training and maintaining our bodies in movement. To understand the role of strength in fitness and exercise therapy, one needs to understand that strength is the most important element of life. All human movement, from the blink of an eye to walking and running depends on strength and proper functioning of skeletal muscles. Each basic activity is based on strength; it is impossible to develop endurance, speed, agility, balance, or coordination without it. Research confirms that individuals with physical disabilities and or limitations respond to external stimuli such as strengthening exercises the same (neurologically) as a non-disabled individual. These findings allow us to use knowledge from sports medicine and exercise physiology to develop a new and effective fitness/exercise program. By creating an individual fitness/exercise program it helps not only to initiate movement, but also to control or inhibit it. The benefits of strength training include:
Our gym memberships start at $35 per hour of special needs group fitness therapy and $45 per hour for one-on-one special needs fitness therapy session.
